United Kingdom 2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 HT Bonatti Grey
Just got them from Devon4x4 MTZs 33" was going to get the 35" but was a bit concerned over rubbing Thumbs Up NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY

sorry i was just gauging the reply on your responses to people comments where it seemed you were after opinion on what looked best. i am more one for functionality and was going to reply but wasn't sure on your criteria.

See you have it sorted now. 33" is the wise choice i think. 35"s would rub on articulation and you are increasing the probability of breaking shafts/cvs etc the larger you go with tyres, especially when you combine it the the std higher Nm of the Puma combined with the lower 1st gear, remember its still running the same sizes shafts as a td5! Cheers

Cheers James for the help....i was going for the 35" then had second thoughts..as you say increasing the probability of breaking something and on rubbing so thought i'd stay with the 33"...i'll let you all know how i find the Mickeys Thumbs Up NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY

Tyres arrived today....supper fast delivery again by Devon 4x4 Thumbs Up
Just got to get them put together now and then put on the truck.....the Mickeys look a nice tyre.....i hope they will be as good if not better than the coopers Mr. Green

That's awful! At that rate I'd be buying a new set every eight months or so.

My last two sets of BFG Muds each lasted 100k miles, but they were the originals, not the KM2s. I don't expect to get quite the same from the current set of KM2s, which seem to be a softer compound, but it should be at least 75k based on current forecasts. The KM2s seem to pick up more stones etc in the tread than the originals, too.

At 20k the BFGs still look almost brand new.


BFG Mud T/A - because nothing else is worth bothering with!

I had a set of STT's that hardly looked worn at 20,000 miles but then the vehicle spent 95% of it's time on the road and the off roading was gentle green lanes - if 'mjw' has done his 20,000 miles mostly offroad then that's not a bad figure ...

Hi in 11500 miles the tyres measure fronts 8-10mm, rears 9-11mm!! 95% time towing and 90% on road! i read somewhere they have 18mm tread from new not sure if this is correct though!!

Just checked one of my brand new STT's and tread depth is 14/15mm.

And I have to say I am very impressed with them. Took the 90 to work today and on the notorious tyre noise testing Ilminster bypass they were a lot quieter than the GG TR's they have replaced and nowhere near as noisy as the BFG AT's on the 110.
