Karlos,
I followed your lead with the Coopers and they have been an excellent hard-wearing, good value for money tyre. I would personally stick with what you know, I would go with Coopers again like a shot. Historically on my Discovery I had BFG ATs, another hard wearing tyre but in the wet with all the weight of my gas tanks etc. they were rubbish if you had to stop in a hurry. By virtue of the hard-wearing of BFGs I would consider possibly KM2s as a second option. Why change at all if you have a proven product already?  If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

i have cooper stt great off and on road! what miles do you tend to get from them i will struggle to do 20,000 before replacement!

Just fitted Cooper STT's to the 90, very pleased with them
Had a look at Mickey Thompson MTZ's but didn't fancy selling a kidney to buy them

Considering they are an 80% offroad tyre 20,000 ain't bad. In SWMBO's Citroen we only got 40 odd miles out of a new tyre as we picked up a nail. Never had any issues with punctures on the Coopers or any offroad/block tread 4x4 tyre. I've done about 14-15k on my Coopers and reckon I'll get the same again in comparison to the new spare. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

I'm the odd one out here having KM2's of which I can't fault myself either.. I considered the Coopers but I went for the BFG's because of their legendary reputation. And as of yet not a single complaint infact for a MT I find them even better on road than the Grabbers I had strangely
 I have had a lille nail in the tread of the KM2's stuck right in pulled it out and guess what not a single air leak.... The Grabbers I was lucky I bought a different set anyway as when the were changed I found that I had a glass slow puncture in the side of one which was a non repair and the others had various other bits stuck in them  Only thing I wish I had done now was go a little wider that the standard 235 but on the whole 100% satisfied. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Mal, your right in what your saying Coopers have served me well, I like the look of the Mickeys...bit more aggressive than the Coopers.... want to try them and see what there like in the mud compared to the Coopers

the Mickey T's are a good tyre. I have the Baja ATZ's in 305's and have had no issues in snow, mud or soft beach sand. The road noise is close to the GG TR's and the handling is just what I am after when horsing the Defender along the back roads, cheers Gary. I have a set of 265 BFG km's on mods and they did not fill me with as much confidence as the Mickeys dealing with the ice/snow and rain covered roads. My mate is taking the BFG's off me and I will be getting a set of Cooper ST maxx's to try as Silverline has no Mickey t's in that size, as the factory is changing over from dirty oil to clean oil in production of the new tyres.
The only time I was really concerned with the Mickey T's was when I was retrieving my boat from the surf at the lowest tide mark and the sand/mud was so soft that the wheels sank about 5". No issues though as I got traction and got out with no help, though the flooding tide had me  my britches a wee bit but luckily enough I had chest waders on at the time and they would have taken a lot to fill, so no concerns of soiling the seat.

Nice one Brian, that's what i wanted to here...Mickeys it is then just ordered the new tyres..
