Hi, wished i had now earlier in the year, going to Portugal 11th September 2012, leaving the Peterborough Land Rover Show on the Sunday. Down to Portsmouth for the ferry, then arrive in Spain, Bilbao Tuesday morning.
Where we will then drive south and arrive in the south of Portugal. Looking to mainly wild camp in Portugal and drive some tracks to move back north, could you recommend any places to camp and tracks worth driving but must be non-damaging. Do you know of any other Land Rover/ or any other events that may be taking place in Portugal or Spanish border area? Any information and suggestions would be appreciated Kind Regards Mark |

Hi
AS far as I know there are no more Lr events here...can't find any in Spain either on that date...maybe a spanish forum user can come forward and let you know if I'm missing any event... When you say you're coming to the south, where exactly are you planning to go? By wild camping you mean to camp outside camping sites? Mainly in the south (Algarve) and western coast below Lisbon to Sagres there are nice places to do that. Although there are not any news lately of robbing campers I would not advise you to do that unless you're in a group of two or three cars at least... I'll try to get you some tracks for you to drive from south to North...and some camping places and camping sites. Just let me know where are you going.... "In 2010 we proved that the reputation of unreliable that Land Rovers have is false. More we've shown that when it's said that most Land Rover produced since 1948 (70%) are still in circulation, this is not a myth. On the EILR In 2010, we prove that the Land Rover were built to last and that in fact they do last. Our goal for 2010 was to meet at EILR2010 Land Rover's whose ages combined would exceed the 10,000 years. In addition, the mileage of all added should exceed 100 million km. What better proof of longevity and durability than 100 million kilometers traveled over 10,000 years? Well, the results of the 1018 Land Rover officially recorded were these: 187,249,407 kilometers traveled 15,955 years of life together. Average age of these LR: 15 years, 8 months and 5 days Average mileage: 183,938.51 km Still believe that the Land Rover are unreliable?" Let's see if we can beat this record this year, despite of the crisis that is afecting us all!! There are allready 459 LR registered to this year's event!! I met up with Joao yesterday and we were discussing this show for 2013 - it will be held in Spain so not quite so far to travel for us in the UK. Would be a nice trip if a group wanted to convoy over...

If you can't come this year save some more money and come back in 2014! Next year it will be held in Spain... I had fun last year, but....
Ours is ususally better ! More cars, and better conditions! It's only 180 miles more ! Over 650 cars booked, and over 500 already paid/confirmed! There wont be as much as in 2010 (about 1020 Land Rovers!), but people are having more trouble (less money) to go this year! But if you decide to come next year, we will meet there anyway!
