youd have to cover the whole roof of the landy to hope at getting 20watts. They are a waste of time really, better off using the car battery.

would you try to charge the laptop and camera direct from the PV's or have a 12v battery store ? If you have a 12v battery store, just pop in a VSR instead of PV's and save £££££ there's lots of threads on VSR's and battery management systems on the forum or do you specifically want to go PV ? |

Another idea. How about a hyper juice battery? As I understand it a hyper juice will power anything which can be recharged via a USB port

Every truck has a built in diesel generator - that and a second battery will keep your fridge running for days between firing up the engine for a boost. You only have to break the tranquility of your location for a few minutes every couple of days - for a computer power then once every couple of weeks. Second battery and split charge/control will give you much more flexibility and ability (winching (assist), very cold starts, flat battery recovery, extended 'watch' etc.) and give you more confidence that the truck will have enough juice to start when you eventually get tired of your location
if you want field power (ie away from the truck) then I would charge a power pack as per Leeds post - you can do this using a USB socket/adapter running straight off your 12V sockets (personally I hate inverters) one of which needs to be wired as always on |

The question for me is does the CTEK solar charger come with its own panel or do you have to purchase a panel separately? If so, where do you get a suitable panel from?
