Seconded. Excellent product. If I can get these kids reports finished off I'll be adding a review with plenty of day and night pictures. The DRL side lights are bright enough for use as headlights "Big green" 2000 Td5 90 IRB Developments modified (2004-2011) Discovery 3 TDv6 GS Auto 2011-2012 *Missed the Defender too much* IRB Developments rebuild: Project Ice cube 2012-...... http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic11056.html |

Voltage sensing relays start at £10
http://www.mobilecentre.co.uk/index.php?ma...cts_id=536 You input a permanent live and it will then switch the output live on only when the engine is running, this can be used on the DRL to simplify the process and enable connection underbonnet. I would not advise using the alternator trigger wire, and the output is of course permanently live as it is connected to the battery. Our DRL kits uses less than than 1A of power to drive both lamps. |

Thanks for all the replies.
Looks like I may need to start saving if I want to go the whole way and switch completely to LEDs. You've given me plenty to think about in the meantime. |

Hi, I'm not an electrical guru but I if you use a 5 pin switch relay you would wire the feed from the side lights to pin 87a????
Any advice much appreciated. Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated LANDYWATCH Neighbourhood Watch for Land Rover Owners http://www.landywatch.co.uk/smf2/index.php |

Halfords do RING LED DRL kits with everything in them for you to get the Killer or Alive DRL Bumper look, alternatively you could fit MINI head lamps that have a side light in them and swap the bulbs in the Land Rover side lights to LEDs and do the associated wiring changes either way it wont cost more than £100 probably much less if you are good with wiring DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,
I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy Last edited by LR90XS2011 on 20th Jul 2012 7:32pm. Edited 1 time in total |

If you have a Puma and need an "engine running" signal, there is one available from the connector on the instrument cluster. It's normal use is for the heated windscreen circuit - the heated screen is only powered if the engine is running. Details are available on at least one of the heated screen threads on this forum.

Our kit comes with a pre made loom that will plug into any Defender after 1996 and requires a single connection to an igntion live. All the rest is done automatically and as they replace existing lights no hole drilling / bumper cutting is required.
We have changed our bumper fabricator recently and have got a batch of different bumpers coming in with "various" options including our DRL version so watch this space! |

Sorted. Thanks for the info about the 5 pin relay. Already had an ignition powered relay that supplied power to a unit with 3 cigarette type sockets for the sat nav and phone which also powered the DRL's . So I've used the output from that to provide the power input to the 5 pin relay and hence DLR's and then a feed from the side lights which switches that relay off when they are switched on which breaks the DRL circuit. Thanks for the tip. Totally legal now. LANDYWATCH
