It seems Zag is off the hook
It's good news but I'm a bit stressed now as several of you "vultures" are already circling the kill I'll figure out who asked for what and when and add you to the list fairly. Please be patient as I will send the hinges out in sensible order and only ask for payment for the last pairs when I've got it all straight Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. All of you who gave me your addresses, your hinges are on their way
Does anyone know what's happened to LR90XS2011? He's paid up but I can't seem to contact him. I need his address. Is he on walkabout? Incidentally, the same goes for daviec1, szracer and Harris110 - can't seem to reach you. Do you still want them? PM me in any event and don't worry if you've changed your mind - there are several other members interested Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. Note:
The plastic bushings are very dense and a very snug fit in the hinges (as you can tell when first removing them when unpacking - although at least you know they do fit). Even though the outer faces are beveled to help with fitting, it's much easier doing both hinges at the same time so the bonnet is offered up square to both bushings in the bulkhead mounting (how I did mine). You have to be a little patient and I don't think it would work from an angle. I did mine in 20 minutes or so but apparently that can't be guaranteed... Hope that helps. Sorry - I sent it to your parents as the old boy in our local post office (more of a tobacconist) panicked when I asked about using DHL labels for BFPO addresses. Hope that's okay. Sorry for editing this post (yet) again but possible issues with LR built "quality" have cropped up.
Another member has found fitting the hinges a bit tricky doing everything with the bonnet on. I lifted the bonnet off first. Here's what I suggest: Fitting notes: 1) Remove the bonnet but don't fit the hinges yet until you know you can fit the bushings properly. Push the bushings into each side of the bulkhead hooks. If they are wonky or won't push together, the hooks are "off". In this case, insert the long bolt through the bushes and tighten gently, then remove the nut and pull the bolt out a bit so the two halves stay together. Pulling the bolt out a little means you can push the hinges partly over the bushings later. 2) If all is okay, fit the hinges to the bonnet, leaving them slightly loose so they can be adjusted later. 3) Put the bonnet back on (mine's bloody heavy with all the chequerplate ) and ease it down and back until the hinge sides go partly over the bushes. This requires some patience as it is a tight fit. I used some blocks to support the bonnet at the sides or it would have dropped down too far. Watch out for the bonnet catch! It took a bit of wiggling and some confidence but once I'd got them in the right place, both sides went in fine. Then take the bolt out and push the hinges the rest of the way. It would probably be much easier as a two-person job, lowering the bonnet down onto the hinges whilst holding the bushes firm (but I didn't have that luxury). Let me know how you all get on. Picked mine up yesterday, all in perfect nick.
Many thanks Matt for all your efforts (which I see now extend to fitting instructions, thanks again!) Rob |

Don't panic yet. It is my experience that DHL delivery times can vary by a few days (no idea why). Also, 4 sets went out before the others (the first to pay ) in crappy boxes. This includes defender4, I believe. Yours were sent at the weekend in a nice new box Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
