F40 .....no not the plane but the 5a fuse (f40 - under the steering wheel)
can anyone tell me exactly what it does (but in lay terms) - I know it relates to the ecu but so do a couple of others so I can't imagine they all power the ecu? the reason for asking is as some of you will be aware I've been having problems with my car since day one and having gone through all the fuses I found none had blown as it was suggested I check but...... the ABS fuse was I believe loose (but can't say for sure) and fuse F40 was no where to be seen any thoughts ? |

I managed to blow my ECU fuse when (mis)wiring my speed unlimiter - had some bizarre effects until I realised what I'd done. Thank God there IS a fuse there
Not F40 though... Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

My fuse box (from memory) suggests 3 no fuses for the engine......(ECU I presume going by the little pictogram - an engine / gearbox with a stike of lightning through it).
a red fuse (20A ?) and 2no 5amp. should I simply try putting a 5amp fuse in there or are we sure its not needed.....all the other locations are clearly marked as spare (when they are spare of course) so I'm suprised this isn't maked as spare if it is? |

Interesting comment (highlighted above). On my 07 every single fuse in the fusebox under the column was loose, and there was factory fit Sellotape over it to stop them falling out! When I removed the tape, the whole lot came out stuck to the tape. I spent about half-an-hour with a pair of long nose pliers putting a small kink in both legs of every fuse then reinserting them, since when they have been fine. So if you are having strange electrical problems it might be worth checking. I had forgotten this till reading your post. A £25k vehicle and the fuses just fall out! Landrover, got to love 'em! |

Shax is right. No function for F40.
F39 is the feed to the MAF/IAT and F41 is ECU feed. No mention of F40 as far as I can find on the Electrical Wiring Diagrams on TOPIx. |
