Caterham mate don't worry about it, I only hope you get it sorted!

Like I said it's an awesome feature that I spent time worrying about! it's great to have so much knowledge in one place and I am sure you will get to the bottom of it!

After all we are all a load of Bloo*y anoraks one way or another, but it's nice to have like minded people in one place.

Good luck and I will keep a beady eye on your progress Very Happy Landy Mad

Landylad,

many thanks. I hope you enjoy driving now your mind has been put to rest.

.....and I hope to get to the bottom of things too.

can anyone confirm if the switch on the clutch cylinder should be n/o or n/c when the clutch isn't depressed ?

so tried it with the clutch connection unplugged and not nice. the over run between gears was massively excessive and really not nice.......

so where does that leave me?

I presume that means its working correctly?

over run between gears
Mate this is such a simple fix, had the exact issue on mine. Check the fuses, its usually the trailer ligh fuse that blows... causes this issue!!! Dont ask me why but it does!

Hope this helps!!!!

Re: over run between gears
i have exactly the same landylad.....drove out of the showroom Brandnew defender 2,2 and it did that.
so far i just left it thought it might correct itself.
my guess that it's a electronic issue of some sort.
i got used to it now but if anybody knows of any (landrover recall) do let me know and i'll mention it when the first service is due.

Now then here's a strange one
Question
when driving under normal load through the gears I have noticed (since nearly new) that the engine revs die back normally between 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd gears, however when I change from 3rd to 4th 4th to 5th and 5th to 6th the engine revs die away so much slower as if the throttle was sticking ever so slightly.

It's a really weird sensation, the revs don't increase when the clutch is depressed through a normal gear change they just sort of hang around a bit and die down slower.

Actually it makes for a very pleasant smooth gear change but seems a bit weird.

Any others experienced the same? she has 5K on her and is absolutely on the button with good MPG etc, just seems a bit weird.

Looking for comments or inspiration!

The Tdi on the other hand drives like the tractor she is which never fails to put a smile on my face Very Happy ...............

Cheers Dave

May also be a powertrain software issue fixed by a later version?

Andrea,

have checked most of the fuses will check rest later today (all ok so far and to be honest the trailer lights works so don't think it relates to this).

wslr - will have a look at the clutch fluid also - thanks.

This particular one wouldn't keep its fluid clean, even after a flush, so we fitted a new master cylinder. IIRC, it had some work done elsewhere including the clutch/slave, so this was OK(ish), but a new master cylinder sorted it out as far as I know.

Sorry to get back to you so late. I would check those under the wheel it is often there that a fuse blows. It's normally the red fuses. Come to think about it my trailer lights where also working when it happened so ya maybe just check those. If not then wslr seems to have the next best solution.
