Heads up on Phishing email
Just a bit of a warning to you all as I received an official looking email from HMRC informing me of a tax rebate of nearly a grand! Would be very welcome!

Only thing was that it came through at 17:15 on Sunday and it was sent to an email address that I never use, I use an aol.co.uk for most of my emails but aol do an "Instant Messenger" thingy which issues you with an email address ending with .aim and goes straight in your aol email inbox along with all your normal mail.

The main thing that will tell you that it is a spoof is that HMRC do not contact you by email, plus the fact I had to cease trading back in October 2010 to become a full time carer for my eldest and I haven't had anything to do with the Tax Office for a while.

The HMRC website has a fair amount of information about such things plus a facility to report anything suspicious.

If unsure on those kind of emails, don't click the links, but move the mouse over the link and see what the actual URL is, 99% of the time the link shown in the email wont be the same as the 'real' link that is shown when you hover the mouse over the link.

Such emails as
Paypal scams
HMRC
Banking emails
Ebay
etc

If in doubt don't click the emails, and if its a company you deal with i.e bank go to the website direct rather than clicking a link in an email 1999 Defender TD5 110
