![]() ![]() ![]() I was wondering if heat build-up in the cat was the problem but it sounds as though the intercooler is indeed the culprit. Cheers Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

the funny thing is, it only happens to some Defenders and not others. Why? --

That's why I questioned the RAI design to start with - I never had a problem last year before the RAI was fitted
![]() Naks - does yours do it? Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Nope, mine has had a Mantec RAI since day 1 and has never had a power loss, even with BAS remap in 40C Cape Town summer weather. -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged ![]() ![]() Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

But I have the Mantec RAI and mine does it??? Might it have anything to do with higher temps in combination with altitude? But then again some of the people that had the problem lived in Durban......? And I gues Germany is not the worlds highest country ![]() |

We're 700m above sea level in Bavaria which seems to affect the number of eggs you need to made decent Yorkshire pudding - not sure if that's relevant
![]() p.s. Think it's about 2% reduction in air density c.f. sea level p.p.s. Just checked and the difference in air density at 1000m between 22 degrees and 37 degrees is 6% - suppose that could be quite relevant for a vehicle that is struggling already... Right now, not as high as I would like. Stuffy nose, shivers, coughing up half a lung, throat on fire ![]() I'm at the coast, 10m at home and about 300m at work. -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged ![]() ![]() Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

Take care Naks
In our case the problem is not related with high altitudes. at 400 m or at the sea level the problem appears to be the same. Im following this thread with interest ![]() MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" ![]() Click image to enlarge |

1800 masl 32°C, uphill and fine. Now if I would to apply FT then coolant temp goes over 105°C and more, easily. The only way to solve it is by going down gear (faster fan and water circulation). Sure you cannot do that on the autobahn. Puma 110" SW

Perhaps it could be something built into the powertrain software version on your vehicles? Perhaps an update and having a remap built on top of it again would solve it?

Nope, remap doesn't solve it. |
