You can buy these replacement fasteners in kit form for both footwells - I have a set somewhere but not sure where I got them from sorry

Cheers Zag, I was going to order replacements from Stig's Stainless - closer inspection of their site reveals that they do a kit, so that was easier than anticipated!
I'm planning to get a set of Entreq's stainless threshold strips, so thought I'd do these at the same time - just makes for a tidier job and appeals to my OCD tendancies! 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green |

Remove a sample of each and take them along to your local engineering / fastening supplies place where you should be able to get them for peanuts. Steve.

The large self tapping screws are part # DA614061L, No.14 x 3/4"
The others are just M6x20 bolts with washers and nuts |

I replaced mine with stainless torx pan-head #14 self-tappers, and standard 20mm stainless M6 bolts/nuts. Should make it easier to get the floors out next time!
Wouldn't bother with any non-stainless options to be honest. The ones I bought were pence from local nut/bolt place and will never rust. |

A Tip regarding removing the M6 bolts, rather than trying to undo them if the threads are covered in wax oil etc, simply tighten them until they shear off, thats the fastest way of removing them. Richard

Just to bump this thread back up.
Does anyone have a link to these screws/bolts as a kit? And also, any advice on how to remove the old rusty ones and fit the new ones. What do the screws screw into? 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS. |

The screws used to screw into plastic wall type plug receivers. Honestly any screw, washer and receiver will do. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Thank you for your reply!
Is it a case of putting the receiver in the hole and it’ll stay in place while you screw into it? 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS. |

Just hold the receiver with a pliers and screw away! I was stuck and used a screw and washer on top, then below a washer and a wall plug! Still in place years later. Brass screws don't rust. Not for the purist but it works. You can put silicon sealer beetween the washers and floors if you like. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Self tappings around bulkhead footwells and transmission tunnel fit into CZA4705L. These are fitted into square holes, so they cannot turn. Once the self tapping is screwed in, they expand to really lock in place.
On the seatbox side, there are spire nuts that slide in the seat box, part number 302532. If using stainless (but also applicable to steel), I like to put a plastic washer between the steel/stainless washer and the floor board to minimize galvanic corrosion. On my old 90 I have used 6.3x20 stainless self tappings and 6.4x1.4x18 washers, and M6x25 pan heads. As mentioned earlier, the floor boards are bolted to the sills with M6x25 screws. On earlier Defenders these were all pozi drive screws. On later defenders they are torx. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Brilliant,
Thank you for replying. The current screws are quite rusty - can I just drill them out? Or will I damage anything? 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS. |
