Looking at swapping over from my Windows laptop to a macbook pro for home use. The current models are currently being cleared at a discount by Comet etc as Apple are launching new models, so Im tempted by this one
https://www.krcs.co.uk/shop/product/detail...-2ghz4gb50 15" Quad Core i7 2.2GHzz 4Gb RAM 500GB £1199 It sells on the Apple store for £1499 Anyone know if its worth getting the newer model instead, its supposed to have Retina display and Ivy Bridge Intel chip? Not cheap though!! |

As the cheapest retina display model is £1,799 then the reduced price older model looks very attractive! Being a cheapskate myself I always buy Macs that have been refurbished by Apple - the only difference you'll notice over new models is that they arrive in a brown box! They're selling the one you're looking at for £1,149. Peter

Hello, Both my sons and my self use Mac book Pros, they both have the glossy screen and I have the non glossy screen. My opinion buy the non glossy screen, it's much better.

I popped into an Apple Store today and looked at their MacBook range. The new Retina model looks verrrry nice. I might even be able to get the education discount which brings the price down nicely . Might just be within my budget.

My office is stuffed with Macs.
I have a Pro as my work machine, which I gave to the good lady, and I bought myself an air as I do loads of travelling. I guess your question can only be answered by your spare cash. If money is a consideration and I just wanted a Mac book Pro I wouldn't hesitate to buy the older model, they are frigging brilliant. Once you get over the short learning curve of how a Mac works, then you will see what real computing is. No blue screens, speed like you've not experienced before and things that actually work! Good luck with your purchase. Nick 2.2 110 Tipper |

We have an apple imac and I just struggle to do the most simple things with it, so it sits in a box un-used...
Though I may dig it out as I need something to use with a GoPro camera. I need an idiots guide :lol |

It's the simple stuff I can't do, like 'copy' n 'paste' and copying image url's....
If I want to put a pic on here for example, I go to my host site, go on the pic I want...right click...copy url...back on here, paste... If I could do that, I'd be chuffed, as it's a cool bit of kit, that sits in a box |

Some of us were using a Mouse and A Mac long before PCs and Windows become common in the home and workplace.
For 'right click' activities on a Mac hold down Control and click the mouse button - you'll get the pop up menu on the desktop then For copy and paste from the keyboard - pretty easy - Apple Key and C for Copy and Apple Key and V for paste (not really any different to a PC - just Apple instead of Control) Greeni get that iMac out of the box and get on with it! PS. Whoever said Windows 7 was an 'improvement' on Vista might be right (Vista was blue screen hell!) but Windows 7 to me is a complete pile of doggydos compared to good old fashioned Windows NT |
