Autoglym tyre dressing is excellent for protecting your tyre walls. If you don't want shiny wheels the trick is to spray it on while the vehicle is still wet after washing. Thats what I do and I find that the tyres simply come out black (not shiny) as opposed to the dull grey they would otherwise be

Yeah, AutoGlym instant tyre dressing is pretty good, but it will go very shiny if you leave it on and let it dry. If you wipe it off with a cloth whilst it's still wet, you get more of a 'matt' effect. Some of the tyre gels are quite good as well, but they're a bit of a pain to apply - the Autoglym stuff just sprays on. 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

UV? Isn't that a good reason to use wheel covers at the back?
Or perhaps it's all b*llocks  Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Well I don't really know to be honest, but they have changed colour slightly, so I guess something is happening. I know there will be some ageing, but I was just trying to find out if there is a good procedure for keeping them in good condition. Unlike other cars, defender tyres could be on a vehicle for a long time, so I am just trying to preserve them. I would just use the tyre sheen / slick look type sray ect that does it. If you don't like the wet look just dull it up a little or don't use as much or alternatively just do a couple of greenlanes it'll soon wear off a bit. I find dust sticks to it a lot. Damned expensive stuff for what it is though and for big tyre's doesn't last long
