Engine fan type noise
After driving on the motorway and having then made an exit, when I pull away in 1st or 2nd the engine makes a sound as if its driving a big fixed cooling fan. This noise disappears once in 3rd and the noise doesn’t repeat itself until the car has been driven at speed for a long time again. Sounds stupid I know but I’m just curious to know what it might be, and or whether anyone else experiences this.

If you look at your temp gauge when you hear the fan come on you should see it read higher than usual. I've never heard mine come on though. 130 crew cab

If you have air con and your car gets too hot your air con fan automatically switches on to provide extra cooling Mike
