Some companies like to get really close to their customers, learn about how their products are really used, understand what issues are being identified and feed that into current production and future product development programmes.
Other companies pretend they want to be close to their customers, their aspirations, needs and their wants but in reality despise their feedback. They may have a management team who are arrogant and ignorant of global trends, technological developments, modern working practices, quality assurance and after-sales service. Just look at the history of Land Rover under some of its previous owners/parent companies (and what happened to them). Current Defenders should be rolling off the production line to the very highest quality standards - after all they have had plenty of years to learn how to assemble them - so no excuses for tawdry workmanship. The components should all be well proven - although anything that Ford have looked at will have been 'value-engineered' to within a micron of its serviceable lifespan. |
