It would affect warranty potentially as the dealer would prob use it to get out of any work on the engine due to change in back pressure or similar. Police would be ok as long as it didn't leak. Insurance company would need to be informed - same as any other modification. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

JSG thank you for the detailed reply.
thats ridiculous, having no cat would allow more free flow and less pressure off the engine would it not...? i will have to wait 3 years then before modding anything on the truck!!!! i thought that was going to be the case the insurance. i used to have a modified focus and the excess for the mods was more than the insurance of the car......! but as my new 130 is classed as a commercial vehicle, to commercial insurers see it differently .....? |

You may find the insurance is ok - my last Defender had a chip, de-cat exhaust, bigger intercooler and a few other bits and the insurance company noted them down but didn't hike the premium. John

Don't know what the dealers would say about the de-cat which is why I waited until the warranty ran out (TBH I wish I had done this earlier as it runs so much better).
I phoned my insurance broker about the new de-cat and pipes as I already have the roof rack, oversize wheels and tyres declared and after they spoke to the insurer they wanted no more premium from me so that was ok. |
