Might actually be my next car, not to replace the 110 as I need the 7 seats but as my company runabout. A reported 40+ mpg and a 5 star crash rating are the main drivers.
EuroNCAP Vid of Ranger Won't be a DCPU but quite fancy the supercab just in case I'm on the school run. Went ot local Ford agents last week and they have stopped doing commercials ![]() |

Probably, at least Ford are going in the right direction, I'll just have to wait until the Duckworths 130 comes down a bit more

i'd buy one over a 110 dc.
5 star rating,3.2L 6 speed auto, leg room, arm room, climate control, 2wd h/l with 4wd low. rear lsd, look ok, get some underside protect, so tree sliders built and it will take you anywhere a dc will go. this is where LR should be now. |

They are very good, in terms of towing they match the Land Rover, much cheaper to run, car like on the road. Would I have one? No. The depreciation is the crippler as I put on over 100k in three years easily.
The only true work equivilant to a Defender ImO. |

and if anyone watches the discovery/National Geographic channels you will see that every ad break features the Ranger during just about every programme about the great outdoors
Now hang on a minute. JLR are an incredibly profitable organisation. They produce the worlds most iconic, versatile, capable if archaic vehicle. But their marketing guys aren't interested in promoting it because, a) they don't make any money on it, b) they don't even sell 20 000 of them a year, c) its cheaper to keep building them than relocation/ redundancies until the DC100 comes along and d) they can't wait to get shot of it. The Ranger is a very capable vehicle and Ford are spending millions promoting it. You can see that they're trying to inject some 'soul' into the image but it just doesn't wash. So when the DC100 comes along it will be every bit as capable as the Ranger , will generate millions but the soul will have gone. Not a problem. Business is business. But you can bet the marketing machine will go to town pushing the soul element and the continuity - a bit like Dr Who regenerating. But the result will be a capable alternative to Ranger/Hilux - nothing more |

OK
My 2 peneth. They dont have the axle articulation that a defender has in fact nothing has and this is what you need when off road. This is why all the SUV Pick Ups will never compete with a Defender off road. The adverts as mentioned earlier. We (my family all LR trained) laughed our socks off when the first advert came on, all you see is a Ford Ranger spinning like fook whilst climbing up a bit of an incline. The whole idea of driving off road is to er not spin as spinning damages the enviroment and whilst spinning you are not in ideal 'controll' of the vehicle. In all fairness they are probabily a good all rounder so buy one ![]() ![]() |

Funny you should mention about the wheels spinning that's what I thought. How very controlled and at about 25 30 mph

My old employer had some Ford Ranger cherry-pickers. We think someone higher up was having a joke at the linesmans expense...they disappeared and were quickly replaced with 130s.
