Guys - i run with a small trailer board attached to the roof rack most of the time now - I started this when out at events as an easy way to ensure that I always had legal trailer lights with me - But I now see that added benefit and keep these on all the time except when I am towing - which is now more regular.
 Click image to enlarge The question I have is - Would I be able to rig up 2 12n sockets - so that I can run these lights and a trailer lights at the same time without overloading the circuit ? I want to be able to remove the board and use on a trailer if required so I do not want to splice these into the main lights as one of my friends suggested - Will I need 2 sockets or is there such a thing as a splitter that I could use - I have done a google search but not found one yet? I am also considering changing the light board to an LED one - will that cause issues if one set was LED and the other not ? there's no reason why you could not make up a 1-to-2 12n adaptor, but have a look at Tim's latest catalogue on the Mobilcentre web site (he's a sponsor), they have some very nice LED solutions.
Maybe Tim could advise, but I think if you connected a 12v LED trailer board it would work the same as one with filament bulbs / lamps, the flasher unit needs a certain amp draw to flash correctly, ie the vehicle indicators, the additional indicators should not make any difference. |

If you used a LED (or LED bulbs) trailer board then the system would be able to cope with running that and a trailer no problems, just tap a second socket into the wires in the back of the original one, making sure the LED light board goes into the extra socket. The only problem will be that when using your trailer board on a trailer, you wont have the tell tale light working on the dash that tells you when your trailer indicators are working, but it will work when you plug a trailer with normal bulbs into your original socket.
