Best place to mount CB antenna?
Going to sling the CB from my D3 into the Defender for the Salisbury Plain weekend. I've got a gutter mount for the antenna but it can be "adapted" for a multitude of locations. Gutter mounting any good on the Defender? With all that aluminium kicking around I'm guessing some locations on the 90 are better than others. Confused

Drill a hole in the roof is the best way. I got a gutter mount for Chelsea but it broke in two as I was fitting it. I ended up temporarily fixing the remains of the gutter mount to the top of the RAI. Needless to say its still there and working Whistle

Laughing You don't know Mrs Do$h very well.... She's already horrified at the thought of me putting the CB in her Defender for a couple of days. If I go anywhere near it with a drill she'll take a lump hammer to my funbags. Shocked

Gutter mount it is then Embarassed

You may find it wont work as the gutter is full of soft mastic sealant which makes for a Censored fixing that may fall off Shocked or end up scratching the the paint on the underside of the gutter. Also you have to make sure that the grub screws pierce the paint to get a good earth. I ran an earth cable from the mount thats bolted to the RAI

Cheers Andrew,

Not overly worried about taking a small amount of paint off a gutter, but your comment about the mastic is ringing alarm bells. I'll leave the CB until last when I start slinging things in the car on Friday, so don't be too surprised if it's PMR only for the weekend Neutral
