Well I stopped filling up from supermarkets for many reasons, but I do know of 2 BP garages on the Basingstoke to reading road which both sell diesel at Ł1.45.9

"Anyone else experienced the same?"
Yes, and even ADAC tests have demonstrated that you’ll do better with BP and Shell etc., than with the supermarket stuff (not the end of the world if one does have to fill up at Tesco though, engines have been tested for countries with fuel a lot worse than that). But the V-Power and Supreme stuff makes absolutely no difference to m.p.g., although many people with petrol vehicles swear by filling up with higher octane and giving it an “Italian Tune-up” before an MOT Test, to get the emissions down… Peter |

Thanks for the info - yes it was an 'emergency'! I shall return to my local Shell garage and absorb the extra cost to fill up with the knowledge that I may travel further!!!!!

I never used supermarket fuel in Big Black until everyone started panic buying, my usual Esso station was empty, and there was only Tesco and Morrisons that had diesel.
I filled up and Morrisons and almost instantly it ran quieter. Filled up three or four times since and I've been getting better MPG - the last tank I got 32 - and the engine seems noticeably quieter and not as rough. Had to fill up with Esso again yesterday, so I'll see if it goes down again... |
