Quick Puma question:
Normally, I can get up to 140+ Kmh (speed unlimited) consistently, albeit slowly. However, it's 30+ degrees today and driving home I couldn't get above 130. Seems to be running okay but just had no oomph ![]() Could this just be due to the heat and an insufficient intercooler or might something more sinister be afoot? I've never had a chance to "test" the intercooling before so I don't know how sensitive it is to heat... Cheers Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. Cheers - you're right about the speed of course, but surely 138 Kmh ("official" limited speed) should be possible, even at 30 degrees

Temp sensor. Probably you went over 108°C. DO you have a remap? Puma 110" SW

The remap wasn't loaded. The temperature gauge was normal. Guess I should look for an error code? Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

The temp gauge would not move at such temp. Between 82-110C or so, the thing stays at the same level. Not sure about the error. Worth finding it out.

Other more!
I have the same issue in mine (30+ dregrees, long trips at 120-130 KPH). The car lose power (reduce the speed) and after few seconds recover again the power. As Mack said, appears to be a protection fault due a temperature increase that is not noticeable in the temp gauge. As a hint before to think in change the intercooler: See if something restrict the flow in the radiator (mud, etc) or if the fan have been blocked. Cheers Eduardo - glad I'm not the only one with this problem (but sorry for you...)
Nothing blocking the rad but I've cleared the fault codes and I'm about to hammer the motorway as fast as I can for 1/2 hour or so - I'll read the codes again when I get back... Check that the air filter isn't clogged/dirty. Also diesels prefer cold dense air rather than warm air which is less dense. A bigger intercooler will help if you are in warm climes.

I know you're right... cleared the codes and drove like hell (well, slower than usual of course) for half an hour - P0100 code didn't come back, only the "usual" EGR P0404 ![]() I also don't think it's just temperature - same power loss even when the engine had cooled down a lot... About to check the air filter now. One interesting thing though - after switching off for 5 minutes and restarting, the engine roared like hell (deep and throaty) for a few seconds as I pulled away ![]() ![]() ![]() Any ideas? ZeDefender i bet the roaring is your viscous fan
mine does the same when hot as the temp rises under the hood when you stop and before the real cooling down starts. Goes away within a couple of secs as the fan cools the coupling. easy to check by the amount of dust it blows under the engine when revving it edit: this can also explain your roaring sound at speed as mentioned in your other thread, if the engine compartment gets too hot the coupling will engage the fan. ![]() |
