Any thoughts on a "classy" steering wheel? The ones I found on the net escaped from a "fast and the furious tuning beats" car. Grtz!![/quote] Very simply said, Starwood in Gemany. They make an absolute magnificent steering wheel, which Land Rover two years ago used for the Defender Black Pearl limited edition. I saw the Black Pearl edition at my dealer in Geneva, and it was a stunner. The steering wheel looked so fantastic that I first tried to order it from LR, but they needed a Black Pearl VIN So after a little research I found out that the entire cosmetic transformation was done by Startech, and I managed to order direct from them. Mind, on the Black Pearl edition the leather stitching is cognac coloured to match the seat trim. For my SVX I ordered it with black stitching. You also have to make sure first that your steering wheel sits on a 48 spline (most likely) or on a 36 spline adaptor. You get the adaptor with the steering wheel from Startech, as well as the original LR logo installed on it. Hearsay that both 48/36 are still being used by LR today, although I believe that most of the time it is the former. The best thing apart from the looks is that after I installed it, the smaller size steering wheel means a world of difference in comfort. Here is a link to the Black Pearl edition. http://www.landrover.com/content/switzerla...kPearl_SWF If interested you can contact Startech as below. They provided an absolute first class service when I ordered it from them. My entire contact was by e-mail exchanges with Ms. Wiky Petraki. Although the diamond stitched one looked so awesome Hope to find the time and fit it tomorrow Seems pretty straightforward but tips for installing are always welcome, it might save me some time and headaches haha Grtz! Hi guys!
Found some time to post a pic of the cubby in the cab. Slapped 2 pieces of white oak underneath to elevate it about 6-8cm give or take, it was too low at first. Now it's just right Click image to enlarge Also, another question, I now want to get me an A-bar and some lights. Was thinking of getting the Lightforce170's does the quality of these things do the price any justice or are these just overpriced due to exessive marketing? Back to the A-bar, have read some stories on belgian forums in regards to road legal issues and a-bars, turns out that the only one everybody agrees on that is 100% road legal is the soft rubber kind of a-bar. The OEM one right? Click image to enlarge But the price of those are through the roof, +- 100£ for a regular tubular a-bar Vs. 700£ more or less for a land rover rubber one. So if someone can shed some light on this, it would be much appreciated Grtz!! Carlos |

£700!!! Definitely not. They're expensive, granted, but I'd say anywhere between £350 and £500 depending on if you can get a good deal. 2nd hand as well are okay. You can also get cheaper ones somewhere that are identical but don't have the DEFENDER lettering on the front, can't remember where from though. I paid a little over £400 for mine.

@ xatzhs ; i'll browse the www some more in search of a bargain.
However, is there an added benefit of the rubber other than it being softer for the things you might bump into @chadjizz ; as you can see on the first page in this topic, my little tank is in zermatt silver. just to be clear the picture of the a-bar is from the web |

Definitely have a look, and put up a wanted post on here in the For Sale & Wanted section. Is likely to bring you your best deal (don't hold me to that).
There is no real advantage to it over any others. If anything the brackets that hold it to the top of the grille are rubbish and weak plastic. I've got some big spotlights fitted to it that have connected nicely with the original fittings - I guess that's an advantage! Personally I think they actually look better than most of the others, but that's everyone's personal opinion. (With the exception of the full bullbar on the front of some - have a search for Glynparry's truck, it's pretty rugged if that's the look you're going for) |

How right that is. One of those two plastic OEM top brackets on mine once got simply torn to pieces in a car wash. Luckily without any other damage, and was easily replaced by a new one without problems. You never actually own a Defender. Mantec sell the top brackets made in metal if required, but can't see the need for them personally. A-bars are for hanging lights off not for protection or ramming, if you want that get a full bull bar setup like Glynn Parry's

Hi guys!
I took off the black front grill and headlight surroundings and put on the stock OEM ones in grey to complement the all clear indidators (still waiting on side left and right). I think it looks nice makes it a bit more gentlemen like haha! I also cleaned the sh*t out of the rear alu panels, they really shine now haha Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge www.comatra.eu |
