Terrafima winch and bumper - susp mods?
About to fit a winch and bumper as stated above. Has anyone done this without changing the front springs? 1951 80" S1 2.0

Yes, TF tubular winch bumper (non A bar) and SW Talon fitted on my 2009 110.

No suspension mods and it is fine.

Ta Thumbs Up

I have a pair of TF light upgrade front springs sat at home that I was going to fit to level things up a bit but to be honest I don't think I will fit them now.

After you have fitted your setup, if you think you want heavier springs for the front you can have the TF springs for what I paid for them (£60) plus P&P if you want them.

Mine was fine on standard set up, even improved the ride over ruts but it's a hell of a weight, like having someone sitting on your bumper all the time so I took it off as didn't need it and the money came in handy!

Going out on a limb here, I would suggest the majority of winches sitting on the front of Defenders are 'not actually needed' ...... Whistle

Depends I suppose. Mine is fitted for a purpose and is used. Others fit just for looks.

I was questioning the expense of fitting one for a long time as it never got used for 6 months but paid for itself time and time again on the Exmoor 4x4 last month Thumbs Up Even if it only gets used for one event a year it has now justified it's existence Thumbs Up

Without it I would probably still be stuck on Exmoor, hmmm .... maybe I should get rid of it Rolling with laughter

While i was swapping my 57 over to the 12 i did not have my winch for 2 weeks and as above i had not touched it for nearly a year then the law of sod stepped in and i needed it badly the weeks it was not there that was a pain in the rear, the job took 10 times longer. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

I had to butcher the grill to get the SW Talon to fit. However, the Talon is slightly larger than most winches.
