I had to go check...... and can confirm that the RSPB are still going strong: http://www.rspb.org.uk/ For a second I thought maybe since I last heard of them they had merged with RSPCA.... I would also have to call the WWF, and Bear Grills!! ![]() ![]() Glyn ![]() ![]() |

We have 10 single lines on insulators on 6ft posts 8ft apart. bottom 4 lines 10cm apart and the rest equally spaced apart. Found with the nets that the grass gets into it it bows and shorts ect and also not very high. Foxes can jump. Saying that seen two dead on the road today

I trim the grass around it weekly to make sure but still gives me a bolt even if you can hear it shorting 'clicking' noise. 1951 80" S1 2.0

A little "trick" we used to use when putting multi strand rabbit fence up was to join every other strand together and connect to the output and join the remaining ones to the Earth return, i.e. strands 1,3,5 etc to Earth and 2,4,6 etc to Live. The idea is that whatever you are trying to keep out is going to hop through the fence, they learn that if they are not in contact with the ground they won't get "zapped". With the alternate power method when they touch 2 wires they get the full brunt! Also if the bottom wire is a return some weed growth won't affect it, but if there is a chance of predators crawling underneath they can miss touching the power wire you just have to assess the situation you have. If it works to electryfy the bottom wire so be it!

It's the best solution I have found so far. Trouble is with the chicken wire / netting is they will just go under. No problem if they are shut in at night but they will always strike if ever it's forgotten
