I noticed a few drips of oil beneath my 2009 110 yesterday. I discovered that engine oil was leaking from the oil filter housing. The leak presented itself recently, no leak evident before yesterday. I'd intended to do a 6,000 mile oil change anyway so decided to bring it forward having done 5,000 miles since November. The oil appeared to be leaking from the housing where it meets the underside of the engine. It unscrewed without very much effort either. No problems as such but I did notice that the sealing ring on the old oil filter, non-LR part, was a slimmer diameter than the new one that I was fitting, genuine LR filter. The new filter with the larger diameter sealing ring felt a much tighter fit as I screwed it home. Has anyone else experienced this? It's convinced me of the value of fitting genuine parts. http://www.roadracingsupporters.com

I have so many stories about fitting pattern parts. I never learn. Example last week I fitted Landrover LED stop lights, they fitted shraight away no more than five minutes and they work. Brought clear britpart to replace fog and guess what the screws don't really line up. So need to buy a genuine plinth now.
But shop about to get best price. Gen fuel filter for td5 from craddocks £45. Whole gen service kit from duckworth £58 plus vat. |

Or even its cheap for a reason ! or if you are clever track down OEM parts ie the ones that are supplied to Land Rover but even then sometime they are 2nd grade quality. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

First oil change on my 2008 Puma the independent used a non genuine filter. Like yours it leaked as yours did. Went back got him to change it. He used another -same brand- non genuine filter. Same problem. Said he uses these all of the time with no problems. Got it replaced with a genuine Land Rover filter and had no problems. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Try a new filter. Before you fit it, give the mating surface and the threads a clean with some diesel on a cloth. It should not take long to dry. Bound to be a simple reason for it.Don't forget to use the correct torque. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

Will do next time around, all OK at the moment though after nipping up the filter housing. http://www.roadracingsupporters.com |
