Should be a foam seal in there. part # MRC8378, about £4.94
Easy to fit... undo the 7 screws that hold the wing top grille in place, remove it, then there's 2 or 3 countersunk screws, undo them and it will release the plastic ducting thing. Bit of jiggling (And you may need to undo the wing support bracket) it'll pull out. Stick the new gasket on the end (they come already sticky) (you'll think you've got the wrong one when it arrives, as it comes on a small oblong box, not a round bag like you'd expect, but you peel it apart and stick it in a round shape) reassemble, then relish in the better heater. |

I thought there should be something there. Maybe that will explain the water that comes through the passanger side lower dash vent..? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Might do but while you have the plastic air intake thing out, check that the drain in the bottom of it is clear. |

Just fitted this seal about 20 minutes ago. Just as described above. When removed from the oblong box you need to turn it inside out and it will clearly form a circle then.

Foam gasket replaced today....A PITA of a job...
The wing grill came off OK but the plastic box under the wing wouldnt budge. Sussed why. Cos there are two screws hidden by the chequer plate wing cover....So eventually removed the screws/bolts holding it on, and then managed to move the plastic box enough to get the foam gasket in place. I did however find the original foam gasket stuck to the inner wing looking a bit sorry for itself! 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |
