I think the 'front view' pic in the article makes it look a bit more purposeful, but from the side it still looks too low at the front, and too short at the back - the loadspace looks tiny!
They seem to be putting it on more aggressive looking tyres now, but it could still do with looking higher, more ground clearance. Also, the spare wheel carrier looks very odd high up like that, not very practical, but it is still a concept and things like that can be tweaked. However, until they get different configs out - including a long wheel base and utility 'concepts' then it remains, to me, not 'there' as a Defender replacement.... Still looks like a return to the original 'lifestyle' Freelander ! (the current Freelander being a top seller for Land Rover - but it is mumsy and schoolrunny now, not 'lifestyle'!) ![]() |

I think it looks like just another tarted up Japanese 4x4. And whoever tarmac-ed that parking lot should go back to whittling pegs.

"The Land Rover DC100 looks as good in the real world as it does on the show stand"
To me It's the same c**p! "It looks modern too, 21st century, not a pastiche of the original but a real reinvention of it." It does look modern...like the existing Freelander, like the existing Kia Soul, and some others outhere - allready - in the market! "This isn't backward-looking retro but forward-looking reconfiguration." Again It's pastiche of several others that allready exist! Not very forward, it adds nothing new! "Gerry McGovern has a talent for creating distinctive silhouettes" Not even his shadow ... "Some of the extra 'off road' features seen on the New York Show Expedition concept are more debatable" Yep, too many extras that soccer moms and drug dealers don't need, because they never leave tarmac! "It is futuristic, yet faithful to its history." Not it's not! It's not futuristic and it's not faithful to it's his history! Unless it's history is copying the existing Freelander and Evoque and some other Japanese s**t ! As some folk have already identified, its a concept, an idea and clearly not what the finished article will look like. I dont think is enough known about its capability whether in the hands of a farmer or a mummy on the school run for serious comment and like most things we do not understand fully we tend to dismiss them. Its a new LR and like it or loath it, it will form part of the LR portfolio of the future and because of that it interests me.
Be interesting to see how many forum members are driving around in one in 5 or 6 years time ![]() |

I have put a refundable deposit down on one, but I will only be getting one if they produce a 110 CSW version! I saw some pics of the LWB concept on the web somewhere, but cannot find them now ![]() |

Looks: YUK - the Evoque looks better and that looks crap to me.
Function: Wide and low - not really a utility vehicle for me. So another pointless SUV? Why not get an XC90? Or a Gayenne ![]() It'll sell though... but certainly not to me ![]() But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |
