Lucky you!
I've yet to get over 30mpg on a tankful, and usually about 27.5 mpg. That's branded Diesel (usually Shell or BP) and a dash of 2SO in (almost) every tank. The Black ones must be more economical than the Grey ones Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

The fuel that I use is at the moment Tamoil, as it is only 1.91 francs per liter...my boots are 265-75.16 GG2 AT with quite a meaty grip.
As far as black versus grey...shinier paint makes for less wind resistance? From what I gather there are a few on here that have yet to hit 20, so we should be counting ourselves in the top percentage 2008 Defender 110 60 year Edition (sold unfortunately) IN the hunt for another Puma for the wifey! 2008 Kia Sorento LX 😁 2.5crdi |

Well, you tell me if I did it right... Last fill, tripometer reset to 00.00 Flled up this afternoon, same station and let it run until it clicked off by itself like last time. tripometer read 594.6 km put in 65.79 liters...for some 124 francs or something ridiculous like it. Did the calculations, 594.6/65.79 = 9.0378 Then went to to my app of units and inputted the data... If I am wrong, well, the few hours of bliss I had thinking about my mileage while feeding the kids and hoping my wife on her ten day trip to Moshi, Tanzania is going better than me stuck in rainy boring Zurich....well, you get the idea. , anyway, the hours were worth it. afraid you are doing it wrong.
65.79 Ltr for 594.6 km means that you are consuming 65.79/5.946 or 11.065 Ltr/100 km.... That is more what my Puma is consuming too. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

I've got 65.79 lts =14.47 UK gals
594.6 kms = 36946 miles Which should give 25.53 mils per gal (I think/hope) |

65.79 Ltr for 594.6 km means: 11.065 ltr/100km 21.26 mpg (USA) 25.53 mpg (Imperial) You never actually own a Defender. For the last 24 years, I have always done it this way: Answer: Improve Answer Go to the gas station and fill up the fuel tank. Record the mileage, before even pulling away from the pump. We will call this Mileage A. Drive normally until the tank is less than half full. Fill up the tank again (preferably at the same station using the same pump as pumps may be calibrated differently). This time, pay attention to how many gallons it takes to fill up the tank. This is usually shown at the pump. Record the mileage again, just like before. We will call this Mileage B. Subtract Mileage A from Mileage B. This will give you the number of miles you drove since your last fill-up. Divide your answer by the number of gallons it took to fill up your tank. This will give you your car's MPG. Now,being from the other side of the pond, maybe I missed something upon retuning to the old country. Always worked for gallons, why wouldn't it be the same for liters...? And to think, 24 years wasted, thinking I was getting better milage tha I was...not to mention the millions more that are doing it my way... No matter really, moving a brick through the air with a drag area of 20.24 and one that tops out at some crazy weight, carrying seven people capable and pulling a shiite load, i'll really take anything over 15 mpg...my first car ( 1964 buick skylark ) did about that...or less since I did the calculations all wrong. 2008 Defender 110 60 year Edition (sold unfortunately) IN the hunt for another Puma for the wifey! 2008 Kia Sorento LX 😁 2.5crdi Last edited by johnnyturbo2002 on 12th Apr 2012 7:08pm. Don't worry, 11.06 Ltr/100km is pretty good for trucks like ours. Better I believe than the official figures given by Land Rover in their sales brochures You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.
