Great photo Haworthj,
I was wondering what lamps you have on the front top of the roof rack? and is it a genuine LR expedition roof rack? Very very nice landy anyway! Mike. |

Hi Mike. The rack is off a G4, so it has the aluminium shelf, with antislip. It's brilliant, and I love it, apart from the fact I can't park it in multi story car parks when Mrs Haworth wants me to take her shopping. Oh, hold on, that's a good thing.

Thank you for the info James...
It seems I will also need a rack to be protected from Mrs Mike's shopping trips Is this rack different from the standard LR expedition roof rack with part number LR004100 ? Because this is what I am looking for those days and if the G4 like yours is a different rack I must know the differences. Mike. |

Yes, LR004100 is the rack, but you don't get the aluminium boarding with this - and that's the important bit (well, for me anyway). I'm afraid I don't know where you'd find it.

The aluminum board is very important for me as well. I guess I will have to customise it myself. Thanx anyway and if it is not a big deal for you I would appreciate it if you could tell me what is the maximum height of your defender with that rack when you have the time.
P.S. I was dissapointed to find out that you don't have a gallery here with such a nice machine! Cheers, Mike |

Hi.
This might be a stupid question, but i have seen a few pictures like this on here now. They almost look drawn. I just think they are amazing and wondered how they are achieved? Thanks. Steve |

It's High Dynamic Range. Typically if you took this photo you'd concentrate on the Land Rovers, and the sky being much lighter than the subject would just appear white as it's over-exposed. Basically with HDR you take a picture with the exposure set to best cover the Land Rovers, and then you take a further photo that captures the sky (and in this second photo the Land Rovers would look very dark). You then use a program that combines the best parts of the two photos (or in practice far more than two) to produce one picture where every part is exposed correctly? Does that make sense? (It never has done when I've previously tried to explain it). Peter

Peter's absolutely right. For the picture above I took 5 stills...+2,+1,0-1,-2, and aligned them in a program called Photomatix Pro. The drawn effect is called 'painterly'.

Very nice pic. I only tried this technique once to see if I could get a result but I am not very good with editing software and struggled to get to grips with it! I will stick to point and shoot. Anyway, here is my attempt from a green-laning trip in North-Wales which shows the 2 images I combined and the end result......
