Why don't some drivers use Mk1 eyeballs and engage brain?
Today woke up and yes there was snow in our area. It had drifted to top of the field dry stone walls. Opened the door and there was a 2ft+ drift there..

Dug snow off red 110 bonnet and winscreen. Drove to end of drive and dug snow away so could open the gate.

Drove down local road and could see car blocking road. Ford fiesta, local woman driver beached on the approach to a snow drift! "We have dug both wheels clear!" FFS it is beached from front bumper underneath engine and front/drive wheels are off ground!

Found a small shackle to go through the rear 'recovery' eye and pulled it off snow drift.

Told them to reverse about 400 metres to their driveway. Was entertaining to watch as they went into the drift at the side, they dug it out. Tried to do a three point turn and failed. Made another 50 metres and off into another drift at the side.

Got bored and towed them the last 100 metres to their drive way.

The first drift was shall we say interesting in 110, next one come under the heading of entertaining and the 110 nearly beached on top of the snow drift. Two more drifts and was back to where the road was relatively clear.

Now why the hell did she take her eurobox out in the first place?

I wonder how many cars are wrecked when people use the recovery eye as a longer distance towing point Rolling Eyes It says in my SAAB manual this pont should not be used for towing. They should make them a standard fit and just give the eyes to recovery trucks to fix in.....maybe!

How many cars do you actually see being towed on a rope these days?? (apart from out of snow drifts, of course) Darren

If I said Bal cocks to them the road I wanted to drive down would have been blocked to me. Apparently the other end was blocked by abandoned cars!

Was by the local cricket ground Mick.

Most car drivers can't drive on a nice dry sunny day, nevermind in snow. How they can miss me in a 14 tonne lorry I don't know, it big enough to be seen from quite some way, yet they keep missing it...
