2015 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 USW Santorini Black

Ok, my new noise - screech clank clank clank (stone in fan)

Just pulling away from Halfords in Selby and heard one hell of a screech followed by (as I killed the engine) a 'ching ching ching ching ching" noise. Got out, checked belts and pulleys to see if there was something fast. Saw nowt, got in, started and set off again and then again it started. Pulled into a parking space (just as a nice bloke in a 12 plate 90 XS pulled in in black like mine).

Anyway, faffed about, put engine on and found it coming from the fan. The fan cover has a couple bit of protective grill missing and a big FO stone had got in and was happily being spun around knackering the cooler behind it......

Sorry about the crap pictures. The black radiator thingy appears damaged but not leaking but what is it? Oil cooler? Air con? There's no oil leak and the air con is fine.

An old boss of mine took his Saab Turbo to the dealer for a rattle..........was a coke can in the rear footwell !

Intercooler but if leaking will drop performance and will hiss when under turbo pressure but not at idle. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Great, thanks RD. There's 3 radiators so the front is the intercooler? The one nearest the engine is engine cooling. What's the middle one? I will have a look... i forgot about air-con. You may have got away with it if your car is pulling fine. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

It definitely is pulling ok and air con is icy cold so I may have been v lucky. Am considering some chicken wire behind the grill now though

Modern heat exchangers are so thin you have been very fortunate. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..
