Ever been drugged? Ever been mugged?
Embarrassing story but here goes. I'm down in hong kong with work and a customer publicly gave me a ticket for the rugby 7's whilst in the hotel bar - value US $100 +. As the bar closes 2 lads in England rugby shirts invite me to share a taxi to another bar - so I think ok why not. I was already quite merry and remember buying a round of drinks (first round) - nothing more until I woke up in a doorway about 3 hours later, obviously alone. Completely disorientated - no idea where I am, what country I am in, where I need to go - I go back to sleep... I wake up today back in hotel bed with vague recollection of a taxi on my own...no ticket but still with money and phone - was I drugged, was I mugged?
I've spent the last 25 years working overseas, having the odd beer or 3 and always made it back no probs and never experienced anything like this. I know I was stupid but had a false sense of security cos rugby fans 'are all good lads' - just goes to show you're never too old to learn and you can't let your guard down for a minute. Boy do I feel stupid.

Strangely again in Hong Kong, Kowloon. I had the afternoon off work and someone back at work asked if I could get them a fake watch. So browsing some shops after a walk around Kowloon park someone asked if I wanted a fake watch, yes actually. Followed them to their shop, actually not a shop and got shown the watches then eventually told the price which was way more than expected. I had to assert my self quite clearly and politely to back out of that one and left feeling very stupid for getting into that position, never again...

I did get mugged in Llandudno in Wales, walking down the pier I was struck from behind and had my ice cream stolen by a huge seagull !!! took the whole thing cone and ice.

To this day both experiences have haunted me Embarassed

Drugged - found a really nice 110 at a specialist dealer with an attractive blond sales lady.

Mugged - bought it and found out the place was owned and run by her pikey other half. Two years on the car is sorted and ace, & I got loads of money back off the credit card co after much argument, but it was a two year hang over.

That sucks ickle. At least it's sorted now though and you've got a fab 110.

I'm glad I only lost the ticket last night - the customer only gave me it after I mentioned I wasn't going because I know nothing about rugby -"have a day out on me" he said, "hope you enjoy yourself"... Easy come, easy go Sad

Still not sure if I was drugged or mugged - they could have just threatened me or nicked everything I had... Very weird.

Anyway, go on Musketeer... What's the rule?

In certain/most/some parts of Africa you would be silly to wander round without a gun. However, night time hong kong I'd rather have a big mate! Good things come to the wild and free

Schoolboy error getting in a cab with 2 blokes I don't know - cant believe I did it now.
Big mate would have been very useful - mostly by telling me to go to bed and not be a muppet...

Reference Africa - this month I've been in Angola, ghana and Nigeria. My company say they won't insure us for stepping outside the hotel Shocked 2011 Defender 90 SW

Hong Kong - probably one of the safer cities to wander around at night. However it is 17 years since I was there. Getting into a cab with two people you've never met before - wouldn't do that in Dorset. You were lucky. Question is would you have used your ticket? HK 7's not to be missed given the opportunity.

At least your arse is intact. Surprised Rich

Thats not stupid Alpslandy. There are always chancers who will take advantage of genuine goodwill for their own ends
Years ago when working in the USA I got touted at a cab office (in Philadelphia) by a guy in a van who offered to take me to my destination for $10 - normal fare would have been $30. We had a great chat - he dropped me off and all was well until I later heard that someone matching his description was done for robbery and assault by touting tourists in a van !
Can't believe how wet behind the ears I was but everything always looks clearcut with hindsight

Had a similar experience, with alcohol and drinks bought, but all still intact. No phone gone missing, money still there. Woke up on the floor on my hotel lobby (by the sea) totally soaking wet, head to foot. Weird!

Did have someone try to mug me at the cash point once, as I put in my number he told me to withdraw £500, so I said to him have a closer look at the screen (I was a student so totally overdrawn), as he did i imprinted the keypad on the scrotes head.

Thats just given me the twitches thinking about it again. I hate chavs!
