I went to a local ICE shop yesterday. Looked at stuff and chose a Pioneer DEH-6400BT http://www.pioneer.eu/uk/products/25/121/61/DEH-6400BT/index.html which was for sale at £180 and some speakers that were just too big for the hole so he said he would trim the speaker hole, these were about £50. Price fitted? £485. I fell off my chair. How hard can it be to put a head-unit in (he even said they just slide straight in, no adaptor leads or anything) and add the speakers. He said he would maybe need to put new speaker wire in too but wasn't sure so included something for that.
So, am considering buying bits myself and having a go. I can't get past this http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...yId_243051 as it looks cracking value and gets good reviews. Stick some decent speakers in et voila. C 2015 110 USW XS in Santorini with premium contrast leather seats in tan/black, black headlining and with Dual Finish alloys (in the garage, now on Wolf rims with Goodyear MT/Rs) 2012 '62' 2.2 X-Tech 110 USW now gone ... 1984 90 soft top with full roll cage, 200 tdi engine etc now sold 2012 USW XS 2.2 "FUU" now gone.... |

The old adage of 'you get what you pay for' springs to mind ....
The ICE shop labour charge does sound a little excessive but I guess, like everyone else, he has staff to pay and premises to light, heat etc .. Personally I would stick to a well known make, Alpine, Pioneer etc etc, My 2p worth |

What you waiting for then If anyone wants any info or help with fitting and ICE in the Defender Puma then I'm happy to help I've more or less replaced the lot single handedly myself. That is of course unless I have to ask permission from certain members first?.... |
