Hi Simon,

Just posted about this yesterday, At 4000 miles my 110 would clatter really badly after driving a long distance and then coasting up to a junction. Round the town it was fine. Took it to LR in Truro and they replaced the transfer box. Done another 4000 since and its been fine. No really long drives though. I'll be testing it again in a couple of weeks on a long drive.

LR dealer originally thought it was loose clutch plate fittings.

Get it to the dealer.

Good luck,

Jon

Yep, I thought that.... Was thinking about doing a 150 mile detour to to the dealer. Confused Drove it there with no clatter but they still found it.

Hi Simon90 my 110 puma would do the same but only after a long run . When pulling up to stop I would get a really loud clatter. It went to Duckworth Land Rover and was found to be a problem with the hand brake.

Hi Simon90 Iam not sure if it was an oval drum or just out of adjustment, oil on the shoes would do the same, hope this helps.

It's OK, they've only been making Defenders with handbrakes like this for 30 years. Can't expect them to have ironed out the niggles yet surely!?

Right forall you clatter nutters i have done a very scientific experiment and have concluded it is the handbrake shoes being to tight to the drum and after a long run start to bind and chatter.

I was sat i traffic crawling along if you dip the clutch and slightly pull the handbrake and it makes a hell of a racket Rolling with laughter SO slanken the handbrake off a bit and see how it goes Thumbs Up
