Thats not a bad price to change. Mine is going in about 18 months along with the dog van and I will get a 130 DC which will double up as a dogtruck and overland/camping truck.

Anyone know what they are like off road compared to a 110

I thought it was a good deal Thumbs Up
You willl have plenty of room in a 130, Nene had a nice 130 DC at Manby with a large Camel back rear box with side doors. The 130 as an overland / camping truck should be fine, the length will only be a problem in tight areas.
Are you going to Billing on the weekend ???

A few years ago I consider a 130 DCPU, the cargo space was excellent, I actually got a demonstrator from Land Rover, but unfortunately it was just not up to the job off road, I do most of my off roading on the river banks of East Anglia and found the long wheel base resulted in grounding out much sooner than my 110. I also found it had about the same turning circle as an 8 wheeler truck. Richard

Either a 90, 110 or 130.

Sonic I am going to Newark for a change and see what that's like. I saw Nene's 130 at their open day with a plasma TV in back very useful, the dogs could watch tv on long trips. RLD 130 looks very cool too on D3 forum.

Thanks for the advice Cradgebank, was the breakover angle the problem with grounding. We have a 4x4 LWB sprinter which is great for muddy fields as long as they are flat but parking off track in forests can be a nightmare due to the bad departure and breakover angles, good job my wife is good at spotting!

Yes the problem with the 130 was the breakover angle, exactly as you state, on the flat it was good but as soon as the front axle dropped in a hole the chasis would ground out. Just noticed you are in Downham, spend most of my winter between Salters Lode and Earith chasing Ducks. Richard

We used to live at Welney and we use to see guys up at god know what time going out wildfowling in small boats on the washes. We would be up before dawn driving to Thetford forest to run our huskies but you guys were always up before us. It made us feel slightly more sane as you guys were the only people we ever saw at that time of the morning. The sunrises could be amazing which made it all worth while, aswell as a cold frosty morning, roll on autumn!

I'm wondering what to do about my '07 XS CSW which I've owned from new. Up until now it's been pretty good and is now pretty well sorted in terms of niggly warranty fixes, it's probably the best standard Defender type Land Rover I've had ...and I've had a fair few over the years. The vehicle has just had its 2 year service and as it's only got a bit over 12,000 on the clock I'm wondering if its worth the gamble on ordering a new one bearing in mind that as ever getting a good one still seems a bit of a lucky dip.

I shoot too ...in fact I used to be a gamekeeper ....but that's another story but still one of the primary factors in why I need and use Defenders.

If yours is sorted, why upgrade? Do you want a different shape or colour?

If you just want an extended warranty, why not just extend yours (privately if necessary). It'll be considerably cheaper than the depreciation on chopping yours in. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

With all the mods that you do, you've got more reason than most to stick with it!

It'll take you the best part of 2 years to shift everything over!

On a serious note, are any of the things that you do permanent? Do you avoid mods that will require you hacking the body for instance (eberspacher excepted) to keep the trade-in value up? Just curious One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

I just love reading your posts, Sonic! It doesn't matter what they are about - in fact - I just stare at the left side of each one. Very Happy I just can't put my finger on it. Whistle

The only holes in it are as you said for the eberspacher and one for the extended fuel tank filler Thumbs Up these i can easily cover by lining the pickup bed with chequer plate. Everything else is just bolted on.
