We run a doubleaxle Ifor. Fantastic trailers, hold their value better than anything else and I suppose they are the "Defender" of trailers. It's about 12 by 6 and plated for 3.5t, so it's good for most everything. Bateson, Indespention etc. are all good - but don't hold the value as well. I would expect to pay £1500-£2500 for one like ours secondhand depending on condition.

Good luck! Good things come to the wild and free

Bateson might not hold value so well, but are a lot cheaper secondhand when someone else has taken the hit

It's a strong case of buyer beware when it comes to looking at used trailers.
I have always bought new for peace of mind and always had Ifors as I think they work hand in hand with Land Rover in terms of development.
I currently use a double axle 8x4 for general duties and a 16x6 triple axle for larger loads. Both are great for the jobs they do and never had issues with either.
When looking make sure the vin and serial numbers are on the draw bar and check to see if it is on TER (all Ifors are) to check authenticity.
If you do buy make sure everything works so as to not give the boys reason- a well maintained trailer attracts less attention. The breakaway cable must be fitted and in good order or it's a simple 3 points. Shame you need to carry cars or mine would have been perfect. Good luck and if it seems too good to be true walk away Thumbs Up

Or lack of development, the defender has hardly been at the forefront for development same can be said for trailers

I keep umming and arring about trailers, every time I can get enough money together I don't really need one but when I haven't got enough to buy one I need one Rolling Eyes Then there is the parking issue, space is fairly limited at home, could keep it on a mates farm but I prefer to keep an eye on what is mine Whistle Next best thing is to have an "account" with a trailer hire company, my local one has tidy, up to date models and for £25 a day I can hire what I want, when I want and know that it's serviced properly and appropriate lashings/straps are provided with the trailer Thumbs Up

Marcus, top tip. Don't bother trying to find a cheap deal on Ifor trailers. I spent ages and they all go for nearly new money. Save yourself the hassle and worry of buying stolen and get a new one. I gave up after 18 mths and just went and cut a deal with the local Ifor dealer Thumbs Up

I sincerely recommend these guys: http://www.ktrailers.co.uk/car-trailers.html

Eight years ago, I also did the search for a good 2nd hand sturdy trailer (not one of these flimsy things sold at B&Q/Halfrauds), and did look at good quality 2nd hand...but as you say - hard to find a good one at a decent price.

K-Trailers actually made mine for me (built to order) - took about 10 days.

Very sturdy, well galvanized, it's still like new after 8 years.

Prices are very reasonable, and worked out cheaper than a decent 2nd hand IforWilliams.

Really nice people, ran an apprentice scheme, just nice to deal with, and great value Thumbs Up Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)
