As you say the paint is so feebly thin It's really a case of deciding if you can put up with scratches or not, nothing you coat it with will prevent a scratch from a bramble, branch etc. If you don't want scratches then you will have to make sure when you go off roading that you won't get attacked by bushes.
Unfortunately off road organisers don't always get the accuracy of "non-damaging" right and once you are down some routes you have to continue.  I saw a beautifully restored, freshly painted Series 2 get scraped to bits and another member had his new tilt torn When I double checked with the organiser that the route was non damaging as described the snooty answer I got was "well we don't want to damage our vehicles either" but the foliage had grown within the 2 weeks they recced the route  Mine got scratched but it didn't matter it wasn't the Defender  
If you off-road I think you just accept the vehicle is going to be working harder, may need increased attention to the mechanicals, tyres etc and is likely to get hurt to a certain extent. It will do it but when you wade through mud and climb boulders it will take it's toll on the vehicle and will need more attention then a road vehicle. Yeah I do agree with you, I will accept scratches just hoping there was something I could do to minimise it a little because it seems you can scratch my Landy just by looking at it! Oh well thanks anyways

I've taken to putting on Mer hybrid wax and then Mer ultimate polish. I truly believe (fact or not) that it does give protection to the paint surface....a lot of the high end polishes quote som sort of crap about a concrete layer between your paint and the elements.
Had a nasty incident with a tree branch and bush and the only scratches were from the snorkel bracket scratching the side....and it wasn't as if I kissed the bush....I was in it! Mer or Autoglym resin polish I believe (again not fact) will protect the paintwork from the majority of bush brushing including bramble ===================================

Land Rover used to sell kits for the lower side panels of Discoverys that comprised some fairly thick vinyl for just this purpose. Of course, it wasn't invisible so it was printed with a variety of patterns. It'd completely change the look of your 110 if you did something similar though.
