Quattro Sport Build
For those into their rallying and old enough to remember Group N, or just those who can appreciate a beautifully finished project, check out this self build Audi Quattro Sport hill climb sprinter.

The originals of these cars are like rocking horse poo now. The quality replicas which exist fetch over £70k. This guy built his own, from a clapped out old standard Audi Coupe. It's an amazing build story - have a look at the rest of the info, the link goes to the last page with the finished product and it's just beautiful in it's brutalness. I want this car!

That is awesome. I always wanted one of those in the 80's when there were a few about, but they were too expensive for me then, let alone now!

Beautiful although the new Quattro concept looks even better...

Beautiful Very Happy

Can't remember very well but didn't they do a test with a Quattro against a Golf GTi on Top Gear and the modern Golf one. Throw in a bit of gravel and we'd see who wins but it does put into perspective how power has come on! Think it was a Golf Confused

These kinds of cars really flick my switch!

I know Top Gear did some comparisons with modern day cars, but its the noise for me that makes these so special. Massive turbo noise, and that howl from the 5 cylinder engine just gives me goose bumps.

Second only to a BDA Escort at full moo! Mr. Green

Wonderful stuff, and I want one!

I had a new URR Quattro in 1985 and it was the only car i have ever owned thar could squeal all four tyres in a monsoon... Had thier niggles though, cracked exhaust manifolds and the flywheel sensors used to fall out at 80p each and £800 to refit. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

See, I like the new concept as a car, but it doesn't have the history of the group B & group N cars. Sure the power will be way more than a stock UR Quattro, but take a look at that build closely. Look at the size of the turbo, the engine internals and the weight saving and work out what that thing will make in bhp per ton. Power is one thing, but soul is everything and if you haven't heard a 5cyl Quattro chattering & barking through a special stage, you've missed out.

I had a UR Quattro for a while and used to go out in the snow with the windows down, rooster tail spraying and the handbrake off/on perfecting scandanavian flicks. Needless to say I ended up in a hedge Laughing

I had a Mk2 Mexico, with flat front, split bumper, cibies, RS Alloys and the fishnet recaros from RS2000. It's the only car I've ever had stolen, and the only one I wouldn't have wanted to lose. T'was never seen again. Crying or Very sad

Most reside abroad , occasionally pop up for sale in Ireland, along with the Manta 400s.

This one is in the Opel heritage centre

As to the Audi , where I used to live ( Maldon Essex) is Terry Hoyle who looked after Michele Moutons car for a while. We used to go down there and look at both the ferraris and the Audi, occasionally he'd fire it up ..just to check things over, great noise.
Myth has it that the car would be taken out at night driven from Heybridge into Maldon high street ....just to check things over again.
