Cheers discocuzzy. I'd been unsure about fitting a wheel carrier on the back of a truck cab, but your photo does look excellent. Like you say, it does take up a huge amount of the pick-up bed: I'd though of lying it flat on the floor, but gave up on that idea when I realised it nearly reached to the tailgate. I shall look into wheel carriers.

In all seriousness, if your looking at a wheel carrier for your new truck, then look at one that mounts to the cross member rather than on the tub of your vehicle.
The later ones are cheap but can damage the vehicle, plus they usually shake themselves to pieces!. Matt (sonic) is looking to get some manufactured as there are a few of us on here wanting one

Cheers Alan, Mantec would have been my first choice as I've a few bits of their kit, and the quality is excellent. Unfortunately they don't seem to cater for drop-down tail-gates.
I'd not previously looked too closely at wheel carriers, but a quick look roud does show the lack of decent versions for drop-down tail gates. If there is any manufacturing of crossmember mounted carriers then I will definitely be interested. Peter 2008 SWB Truck Cab 1952 80" Soft top |

That's interesting. I'd assumed that their half door version was for the drop down tail but I guess not.
Seems an obvious piece of kit is missing - someone should get designing! One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

Alan, i looked on their site when i had the double cab, not available.
The only ones worth looking at are currently Kaymar and safari equip, both are £700+ 
Trust me the Sonic one is worth waiting for, better than both of the above and should be priced more competitivly, just waiting for fixed manufacturing costs before release You cannot teach stupid people to do clever things |

Sonic (Matt) sent me a picture of his wheel carrier and I totally agree with Disco, it is worth waiting for him to get them produced.
The Kaymar version needs mods done to the rear tailgate to get it to work on a double cab, which involves moving the hinges, as it was designed for a station wagon. I would prefer to wait for a carrier specifically designed to fit a vehicle with a tailgate. Bob |

the original company that agreed to build it let me down at the last moment  which set it back quite a time. As soon as i know i will let you know
Fitting should only take about 10 mins as it uses the existing holes |
