OK back from Africa yesterday and picked up the Defender a couple of hours ago. The story is that a sender unit in the fuel tank had failed leading to the ECU going into limp mode as it was trying to stop "fuel lines running dry". The reality of course was there was still plenty of fuel and therefore it was overfuelling for limp mode and therefore producing lots of white/grey smoke................that is exactly as was explained to me today!!!
We have got the car home 32 miles and NO PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Incidentally I also today filled up just after we collected from dealers.......and put in for the first time ever 500ml 2SO. The effect was unbelievable and the engine is really really much quieter. I would recommend this trick for anyone!! Thanks guys for your comments..... Anthony |
