United Kingdom 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Orkney Grey
Gisby
Unfortunate registration...Mr Gisby is apparently the owner of the "TOTALLY GAY PET SHOP":

Anyway, maybe I should sell him my registration plate:

Mr Gisby has replaced a 9-year-old Discovery 2 TD5 which I ran from new for 186,000 miles.

I was told that I had bought one of the last of the 110 USW Orkney Grey 2.4 motors, before production migrated to the 2.2 power unit. Apparently 5 were built, and dispatched to dealers around the country, and I ended up having to drive from Scotland to Wales to collect this one.

now almost 3 weeks old, and 1400 miles.

Mods to date:

1. Full rustproofing, as helped by Zagato. Dinitrol and ACF-50 used in abundance.
2. Side Steps (it's a County, so they weren't standard...Thanks AndrewS), as SWMBO is only 5' 2".
3. Noisekiller - in rear tub, and under bonnet, a bit more to follow I think.
4. Tow bracket installed & replaced rear folding step with a tow-bracket mounted one. Tow bracket installed with stainless fasteners from Stig.
5. Early-life oil change - done Engine on Saturday, xfer, gearbox & diffs to follow.
6. Nakatanenga glove box (thanks Leeds)

Next on the list is the reinforcement of the rear mudflap hangers. The Entreq ones looked pricey (or at least the carriage did!), I have obtained a piece of aluminium strip, which I'll cut, drill, and put inside the rim of the rear body panel.

Also bought a few other bits, Defendoor (not fitted in photo) etc, and will test some 2-stroke in the fuel soon. Getting just under 28mpg so far...

I'm loving it! Thumbs Up

Mr Gisby got a new playmate at the weekend...a "Freelander in a Fur Coat"...

MrsK collected her new Evoque.

Really pleased so far...lovely interior, a great place to enjoy the miles.

With all the gadgets (bings, bleeps etc) though, I was pleased to be back in the Defender Thumbs Up Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

I used the kit from Stig http://www.a2stainless.co.uk/Land-Rover-De....aspx?nh=1

I did assume that this was "fit for purpose". However a couple of other friends from the Forum (incl Dean Watson & Cobs) have mailed me with this very same concern.

My trailer is only 750kg, although I have in the past borrowed a 2-tonne.

Based on these concerns, I may put the originals back in if I intend towing a heavy load Thumbs Up Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)
