They made a lovely sound, can;t believe you had 12 of them ! A dead engine configuration now , makes them all the more collectable.

It was/is an obsession, my father had them from the 2 Stroke days and was a member of the club (he's had over 40 SAABS, over 75 cars altogether in his life Shocked I could never beat that but will try Laughing He only has a convertible like NAKs now, SAAB wise that is, he still has two other cars...and he's 77 years old Whistle ), I got my first V4 when I was 13 and learned to drive in it Whistle

1 X SAAB 95

3 x SAAB 99

2 x SAAB 900

1 X SAAB 9000

1 x SAAB 9-5

Two of my nicer ones, both under 40K and mint, sadly they are both VERY rough now Big Cry

I was never allowed more than three at a time Sad

The 900 and 99 in particular were both under 20,000 miles and absolutely mint, factory fresh, won many cups with those two Very Happy

Really nice pics Zag! So nice to see!

myself I thought the tribute wasn't too bad seing what Topgear has become during the last years. In the end I would agree that since Saab got shafted by GM the brands soul was gradually lost, but who know how long they would have lasted if GM hadn't stepped in? All in all its really sad Crying or Very sad

parts won't be a problem.

Totally untrue, I have a 9-5 Aero and a 9-5 2.2 diesel, parts are a proper pain in the arse to get, all the dealerships have sent all the parts back to the factory to asses the value of the assets, so even stuff like oil return pipes and wheel bearings are like gold dust at the moment, as for a timing chain, you may as well be looking for a LR without a rattle!!!

At least one company is being set up to sell on these parts to customers and to carry on producing more perishable items such as hoses so their shouldn't be any problem....we''ll see, Rolling Eyes They won't be cheap I bet. They ran out of inter-cooler hoses whilst the company went bust but some more have been made up in Sweden £60 for a 4" hose Sad

I believe SPUK ( Saab Parts UK ) has been set up and will be running soon. Its based out of the old Saab HQ run by a handful of the ex Saab UK employees.

Neo Bros still seem to have some bits, but they break loads of them, so most bits are available 2nd hand, but as you say hoses and timing chains etc are going to cost a bomb.

I heard that one garage local to me has a timing chain for a 2.2 tid and refused to sell it for £750, because he wanted to keep hold of it.

When I had my GM900 then 9-3 they both had the feature, I think I used it only once or twice.

After a short while you started suffering paranoia about how much fuel you have left, the guage only lights up at 2 gallons reserve. Same with the engine temperature guage it only illuminates if it is too high.

Personally I just dimmed the overall dash lights down the minimum and never bothered with that option.

It must be the least used button in either of mine.

The dimming knob was a better idea, just turn down the brightness down on the display. This feature came standard on the 96's as well as heated seats - not bad for a 1970's motor Thumbs Up

I have a load of stuff I should sell as prices for SAAB gear may go up

Complete set of brochures going right back to the 92 (taken 30 off years to collect!)
SAAB 2 Stroke wooden Sport steering wheel
" " Clocks, v4 clocks
SAAB Sport and Rally V4 steering wheel,
Front grills, dashboards, hub caps.
Lovely 2 stroke desk mat thing that only some dealerships were given
rare models

Trouble is I can't part with it. Ought to ring up the dealers and see if they have anything juicy going Very Happy

I sold most of the stuff of a few years ago as SAAB became and unhealthy obsession Sad

Will put a few brochures up for sale I have duplicates of Thumbs Up
