2.4 Puma Replacement Pipe
Hi, I have a 2007 2.4 Puma Defender and was looking about fitting a mid silencer replacement pipe and/or a 'de cat' pipe. Its purely for improving the sound. I know the TD5s sound good with these but does anybody know if the puma does? would be a great help if u could link me to a video or a sound clip etc. I have looked about and cant find any so far though. Sad

I am having mine done in a month or so (warranty running out then). Stainless steel with a dummy cat. Had it measured up already and having two exits (one at each corner). Been done by a company in Suffolk, owners are land rover nuts. A mate of mine has also ordered one that is been fitted to his 300tdi with vtn turbo and is been fitted this week I think.

Well after they put it up on the lift I was horrified to see how much corrosion was on the exhaust! The centre box was very rusty and the steel 10mm hooks that are welded to the system along its route were a minimum 50% rusted through. So I am having the whole lot changed to stainless steel in April. I am having a centre box on it but that is smaller and sits higher up than the original but no tail box. They more or less do anything you want so you could if you wanted have just the straight through centre and a tail box. http://demandengineering.co.uk/

What's the reason for the dummy cat?

I think so. As far as I know for better sound you need to change/remove rear (small) silencer

Thanks the Boy, will check them out. Denis, do u know if u have to get rid of all of the silencers to get a good sound, or is it just the rear one?

With all this stuff about cats might need to be left on in order to pass the mot I was a bit worried. I know some have said it will only apply to petrol engines but if it doesn't I will be up the creek. If it is defiantly only petrol then there will not be a problem and a simple pipe will suffice.
