Fited the lights this weekend but kept them low due to the amount of bush driving I do. Ran the wiring down the snorkel. Just need to get the LR Aux 2 switches, so I have temporary switches in currently.
I would attach a picture if I new how. ![]() Will keep trying. Does anyone know the part numbers for the switches and plugs? Thank you |

What's the best way to secure the cable to the pins crimp or solder .
Is there a separate crimp tool for these connectors. Defender 110 County SW Disco 3 HSE Freelander 2 HSE - SOLD going back to a car www.lothian4x4response.org |

Crimping is the correct way to do these terminals. The terminals won't go into the connector housing if the tabs aren't crimped down. I use one of these - ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge But you can do a reasonable crimp with one of these (TT70) - http://www.polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/info_TT70.html ![]() Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() 1989 Arles Blue 2.5TD 110 Hardtop 1999 Epsom Green Discovery II 4.0 V8i 'XS' |

Thanks. I suspected that would be the case. Now to get a decent set
![]() One additional question. I'm looking for a selection of waterproof connectors. Are there any other recommended suppliers other than VWP. Defender 110 County SW Disco 3 HSE Freelander 2 HSE - SOLD going back to a car www.lothian4x4response.org |

Cheers Ken
I can never seem to find what I want on RS Online unless I have a code. Must try again and be more patient when looking. Knipex totally agree with quality kit. I have a selection of the standard pliers in the toolbox form them and had these for years great quality. ![]() Disco 3 HSE Freelander 2 HSE - SOLD going back to a car www.lothian4x4response.org |

RS are good if you want a quantity of something, as most things are sold in bags of 5, 10, 25, 50 or 100 (and more!).
To take as an example, a popular automotive sealed connector - the 2-way Econoseal. From RS you have to buy - Connector housing - Bag of 5 Terminal anti-backout - Bag of 10 Female terminals - Bag of 25 Wire seals - Bag of 25 That's just for the female connector, then you have the same again for the mating male connector (the wire seal is the only part in common between the two) And, of course, you have to know all of the Tyco/AMP or RS part numbers. A much easier alternative, is to buy them from Polevolt (who are cheaper than VWP - and RS ![]() http://www.polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/info_ESC2F.html Price each: £1.42 (£1.70 Including VAT at 20%) ![]() http://www.polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/info_ESC2M.html Price each: £0.95 (£1.14 Including VAT at 20%) ![]() I've no connection with Polevolt, other than as a satisfied customer ![]() . I always try to crimp then solder but with those it is VERY hard to do becasue if you use too much solder or over lap the profile of the metal pin/connector it will not clip into the pastic housing.
