Any advice on how to remove the two nuts that hold the oil return pipe onto the turbo - they're right underneath the turbo and impossible to get to Also of the three nuts that hold the turbo to the exhaust manifold two are easily accesible but what's the best way of getting to the front one which again seems in an impossible position? Any help greatly appreciated!!! |

spanners and time i used a socket with a bar on 1/4 drive for the little bolts just cracked em undoen then loosened with the extention and fingers
the top of the triangle is a spanner job im a afraid and the other 2 you can get to with a socket and exstension hope this helps regards steve 2015 2.2 tdci hardtop xs 3.2 conversion DONE 238bhp and 707nm torque and thats just the start ;-P hybrid turbo in build -done ready to fit ashcroft atb in transfer box 6 speed auto in build |

Am thinking of this as a solution to my turbo whistle Will the turbo have been damaged during the time since it started whistling (at least 1,800 miles ago)? Thanks chopdogs |

Same question from me! First service in May and I've bought the Nak. gasket in preparation. Not sure it will be easy to convince LR Germany to use it under warranty though... Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

We've had experiences of fixing this problem.
We had a customer who drives hard and tows even harder, we removed the turbo and had both flanges skimmed, he still managed to get the 'whistle'. After admitting he 'abused' his motor... Towing at high speed for hours on end, the final fix was a nak gasket, turbo flange skim and a 'twisted' downpipe, which has a good thick flange, as well as a bracket (de-cat). No problems at all since. |

I have the same problem and I have just bought some Nakatanenga gaskets, I wanted to ask what bearing, if any, changing the exhaust downpipe would have on removing turbo whine at the turbo/manifold flange? |

If the down pipe has a thicker flange I presume it's less likely to warp. Ray

The down pipe is on the low-pressure side of the turbo, so I think less likely to warp and scream anyway as it's a lot cooler than the manifold-turbo flange. Fixed mine now by skimming said flange (filing it flat actually - only took an hour). I also don't run it hotter than 600 degrees on the turbo outlet side (= about 750-800 degrees at the inlet = 150 km/h at full pelt)
