Dodgy Door Locks.
I'm having real bother with the door locks/central locking in this cold weather. First thing in the morning when i go out to defrost it. i peep the central locking, it unlocks then locks again straight away. last week i opened it started the engine shut the door and it locked itself. had to get the spare which would not open it with the button, i had to open the tailgate with the key and climb in through the back. (Glad i was at home!!!) Again this morning back to unlocking and locking itself again. If you catch it right, between the unlocking and locking phase you can open a rear door reach forwards and open the drivers side door, which leads me to think the problem is the drivers door lock. What do you reckon, easy fix or another warranty issue?
Cheers
Steve

I've had this problem as well, on two occasions. Both times on effin cold mornings. The first time it was enough to press the fob to unlock again and it unlocked properly. The second time I had to pull the drivers door open just in time before it locked itself again. I would too like to know what could be the cause of this.

welcome to Land Rover ownership Thumbs Up

You need to pop some wd40 (i prefer gun oil) into the locks and the rod mechanisms in the doors annually and when it gets cold you need to put a light coating of oil, grease, vaseline or similar around the door rubbers to stop them sticking.

also, try to keep the rubbers clean and dry helps

As bpman says.....it's definitely worth taking the door panels off to do it.
The grease in the mechanisms become 'less greasey' Laughing

I forgot do my door rubbers and had to use Mrs Greeni's new hair dryer to de freeze my door ! That was after sitting on and breaking her ipad Embarassed

I've now been told that one reason behind the door locking itself has to do with the lock-knobs on top of the door. (the ones that allows you to lock the door manually from the inside) The space between the knob and the surrounding plastic slot is really tight, when it's really cold there is a certain amount of shrinkage in the surrounding plastic and this supposedly makes it grip around the lock-knob. This confusing the central locking making it lock itself again. Not sure it helps but a tip would be to put some grease or oil around this space as well.
