Not quite an overland expedition, but I'm going down to Falmouth this weekend for a birthday party and wondered if anyone has any suggestions for good things to see and do?
Unmissable drives, great views, nice walks, easy lanes etc that sort of thing, Have a list of places to eat which is handy as its Falmouth Food festival apparently, but short on other ideas. Suggestions appreciated. DJ 1989 200tdi 90 csw 2011 110 usw Orkney grey Buy British 🇬🇧 Defender Clothing Designs available at http://www.rangesports.com/acatalog/Defender-Stuff.html |

The Falmouth National Maritime Museum on the front is good
A drive around Pendennis Castle on the headland nearby (Pendennis point!) Can oversee the docks! Then can walk from Swanpool as far as you like along the coast But I prefer Mylor as it has pub destinations! Not sure if it runs this time of year but the ferry to St Mawes is a good trip if you want to get on the sea safely. Nice walk from Flushing to Mylor along the headland! Pasties at the Mylor butchers very good Then walk it off from Mylor Bridge to Mylor Harbour! Scenic place for a pint is the Pandorra Inn just over the headland from Mylor http://www.pandorainn.com/ Cheaper grub can be found at The Lemon Arms in Mylor or the restaurant in Mylor Harbour is very good but pricey again! Trevone near Padstow is a great place for a stop off. Has one of the best walks and views along the cliff tops. Their is a huge blow hole which you can climb down in the middle of the headland field overlooking the beach - not for the feint hearted It's one of those special places rocky beach with natural swimming pool and sandy beach with surf on the otherside. There is NOTHING their but is packed in the summer now like all Cornwall Parents used to have a holiday home in Trevone where we spent holidays. Padstow is totally spoilt nowadays, Costa Del Padstow |

Cheers for that, I'm staying in a cottage on Pendennis Castle so should be able to have a drive round there no problem.
Forgot about pasties! I'll be looking out for a few of those. All sounds good. DJ 1989 200tdi 90 csw 2011 110 usw Orkney grey Buy British 🇬🇧 Defender Clothing Designs available at http://www.rangesports.com/acatalog/Defender-Stuff.html |

Thanks guys, some good ideas to go for. I like the pub/pasty/pub idea, with a bit of a walk thrown in (but it's looking like skis might be in order)
Fortunately a nice new Alpkit down jacket arrived today, so ill be warm enough, great kit and reasonable money too. DJ 1989 200tdi 90 csw 2011 110 usw Orkney grey Buy British 🇬🇧 Defender Clothing Designs available at http://www.rangesports.com/acatalog/Defender-Stuff.html |

Ahh thats what i do !! you need the place in Bodmin they are cooked then frozen so all you have to do is warm through not cook from scratch, the place is where they make them for all the shops its on an industrial est near the steam railway, i will try to put a gps toggle on here, Great butchers shop next door superb chilly burgers, working in Cornwall costs me a fortune.
I am there Monday dropping a crane in Padstow. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough. Every Day 16 MY Discovery 4 Commercial Workshop and Escort Vehicle Weekends 07MY L322 TDV8 Vogue SE Series 1 80" 3ltr 6cyl with overdrive No Worries 4X4 |

If you're going to the Pandora give them a ring first as it burnt down last year I think and was being rebuilt to re open Feb/Mar/Apr . Its a steep old drive down to it in snow...to find a building site!
Have fun tho, lovely part of the world. Stu |
