As you're in Scotland, I can't recommend these guys highly enough:
http://www.ostlestyres.co.uk/ I've used them for 2 sets of Land Rover tyres (BFG AT and Grabber AT2). Also use them for my last set of winter tyres on my XC70. IMHO it's well worth the drive. The guys are competitive on price, and also considerate to you and your car. Last time I dropped the car off, and went for a walk around Gala for a wee while. I have also taken re-finished wheels (with no tyres on) for my last Discovery. The guys fitted the balance weights on the inside (stick-on) rather than the hammer-on balance weights to maintain the "new" look of my refinished wheels. They did a great job, and managed to fit the tyres with no rim damage whatsoever even though the new paint was probably relatively soft. As they're in the Scottish Borders, there's lots of farming 4x4's there, so they always have a good stock of tyres for 4x4 and offroad vehicles. Good guys, good prices. Tyre fitters here fit weights on the inside and outside Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Have you seen this...?
http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic10886.html I'm up that way quite a lot, so could maybe arrange a "relay" delivery if you wanted them... I've got the Crosscontact tyres on my Defender and they seem pretty good. Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) Last edited by MartinK on 4th Feb 2012 1:57pm. Ok...Ok - I meant the stick-on weights rather than the hammer-over-the-rim veriety... Like this: Click image to enlarge rather than like this which always sem to cause damage to the rim (either immediately, or over time) Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

Thanks all. E mailed all suggested suppliers and will await their response. Frequent visitor to the borders too so the last suppliers mentioned might be the perfect solution. Great forum, thanks for all the help. Keith

I have heard this, but on the Discovery they were on for over 40000 miles, and never came off...but I'm a green-laner rather than a mud-plugger Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |
