I'd like this to be our last move. i've done a few properties up.

would love to build an eco house. Electricity from water power, heating from ground source plus aga etc

steel framed bunker dug into the side of a south facing slope. like something out of a bond movie.

it's all about the life cycle though Rossy. I'm not an eco warrior per se. But if theres the technology to give free power and not being beholden to the power companies i'm all for it.

i'm quite happy to go to sleep when the sun goes down, we should be allowed to hibernate imo, you won't see a bear at work in winter, why should I

I like your thinking .. underfloor heating, cover the house with cellotex and render - that's the Swiss way and it's really effecient

together with BP Solar, wood burners and a small sustainable wood. Esse do a nice wood burning cooker.

I agree, my last build, we had block + cellotex + air + block + air + 5" natural stone, the walls were about 40cm thick and kept cool in the summer and warm in the winter. I put loads of glass in the loft and for a 4 bed, large cottage, heating and cooking on oil was < 900 litres a year Thumbs Up

Woods should be used for real things like timber for furniture etc

Our wood burner uses waste material!

Waste from someone who makes hardwood kitchen.

Saves Mick from paying for waste disposal, saves us paying for logs.

Know as win, win Thumbs Up
