Mine is home made, fits both sides and locks into the jacking holes seconds to fit. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

Nice idea for moving big trailers about - I assume it slips over each side of the dumb iron but I'm not sure a standard bumper (not the galv one shown) would be strong enough. John

I had a removable front tow bar (custom made) on my previoius Disco. At first I diligently used to take it off and stow it after each use. After a couple of months it stayed on permanently for the next four years. With the Defender I again looked at all the options including having a custom heavy duty front bumper made but in the end I bought a couple of 5 inch drop plates, cut one in half to use as a backing plate and bolted it onto the standard bumper as a permanent fixing. I welded a bracing bar to the side which bolts to the chassis using an existing hole where you put the jate ring.

Apologies for the cr**py pic - will aim to take a better one tomorrow.

I have the Safari Equip steering guard with the 2" receiver that allows the fitting of a drop plate with towball, recovery billet or a winch mount.

It only gets fitted when needed, though I still haven't found a need for it being fitted yet.

Lorryman - like the idea of yours - when you do have a need they are worth their weight in gold. It's much easier to control a long trailer/caravan with it on the front rather than the back. One consideration is whether to go for centre mounted or to one side - I've always found it useful being able to see down one side.
